We have a case study ad focused on landscaping and paving. A case study ad is a type of ad where you show the real work you've done, and give a before-and-after photo of what it looks like.
This type of ad can be really effective as you are showing proof to the viewer of the job you have done and that you are competent in what you do (which is paving and landscaping).
The Main Problem Of The Ad
What we need from an ad is to make it stand out from the rest of the competition. No matter the type—whether it's a newspaper, TV commercial, or Facebook ad, it needs to get the viewer’s attention.
The main issue with this ad is not the picture or the description. It was the headline. The headline, 'Job we have recently completed in Wortley,' doesn’t move the needle. It sounds nice, but we don't know what the job is and what you actually do. So if this was a person who was having fun on Facebook, scrolling through their feed, and this popped up. They would instantly scroll away because the headline doesn’t give them a reason to keep reading.
So to keep people's attention we need to give a headline that will get the target audience interested. Here is a headline below that would work well:
"Are you looking to improve your front yard in Wortley?"
The headline addresses people who own a home in Wortley, which would grab their attention straight away as it feels like the ad is for them. the ad identifies a problem for the audience. It makes them question their front yard and think of a new improved look of their front yard.
From there on, we can keep the rest of the ad relatively the same. With the body copy (this means the description of the ad in marketing terms), instead of talking about your job you can talk more about the story of this person's house. Maybe the brick wall was starting to collapse and needed fixing ASAP, and therefore, you stepped in to fix up the mess.
The ad image can stay the same. As I said before, it shows your proof of work and competence in your job. It's always a good idea to show your work off. So if you have photos or videos of your work, make sure to upload them!
Overall, the headline is probably the most crucial part of an ad. Make sure to write up a headline that grabs attention and gives a reason to keep reading
